The welterweight division breakdown: My predicitions and thoughts

This welterweight division is truely spectacular in my opinion. I guess i'll jump right into this by breaking down some of the most important upcoming fihts.

1: Paul Williams vs Antonio Margarito,

This fight is very hard to call, but i have Paul Williams winning this bout. Antonio Margarito looked outclassed by Clottey before he ( Clottey) broke his hand. What baffled Tony? Clottey's fast hand speed, his jab, and his suprising power. Well guess what, Paul Williams is going to baffle him even more. With his size and very fast hand speed, Williams' jab is a potent weapon. To go along with his jab, Paul Williams packs a VERY big punch. And I feel he frustrate Margo with his long reaching jab, and as a result will land some big shots further exposing Tony's defensive holes. However, clearly this fight will not be one sided. Tony was shaking off some ring rust during the Clottey fight, and he clearly was not as focused as he should have been. Tony is a very talented offensive fighter, and Williams has never been in the ring with anyone as agressive, or with the offensive prowess of the man he is facing in this fight. If he can land his VERY big right hand on Williams chin, Paul could be in trouble. He's never felt anything like that before. Aslo Tonys big punch output and great stanima may confuse Williams. But the bottom line is that Paul Williams style will be just to tough for Margarito to handle.

    WINNER: PAUL WILLIAMS

    Zab Judah vs Miquel Cotto

This is going to be a hell of a fight, and it has a BILLION questions that must be answered by both fighters. Which judah will show up? Will Judah be rusty. Can Miquel Cotto deal with the blazing hand speed and big power of Judah. My personal take on the above questions is that Judah will show up. This is the defining moment of his career, and he will not blow his career away. Look for judah to be hella focused coming into this fight. Does this mean he will beat Cotto? I do not think he will. Cotto is so strong and his relentless body attack is SOO good. I think Judah will win the first rounds of the fight, with Cotto getting closer and closer to his body with ever second of the fihgt. I think in the middle rounds of the fight Cotto starts to cut off the ring, and his vicious body attack will begin to suck the life out of Zab. I can still see Judah winning some of these middle rounds, but i think he will be discouraged after Cotto keeps coming at him, and i think a SD victory or a 10th+ rounds Tko for Cotto will be the likely outcome of this fight.

    Winner: MIQUEL COTTO.

    Joshua Clottey vs Diego Corrales
My god is Diego brave in selecting to fight Clottey in his first ever welterweight matchup. Clottey is coming off an impressive performance against the before-mentioned Tony, as he simply looked the better fighter until he broke his left hand. Clottey is a big strong welterweight with GREAT defensive skills. I expect him to box Corrales, popping him with a strong jab, then making him miss, repeating this process for the entire fight. He will also nail Chico with some power shots that he ( Chico) will have to prove he can take--he's never been hit by a strong welterweight before-- Chico however, cannot be counted out of any fight. However there are so many questions about him-- can he take Clottey's shots? Will his shots be as powerfull as they were in the lower weight classes-- that it is very hard for me to pick him to win this fight as of now. I personally think Clottey outboxes Chico to a UD.
This could rocket his career to a new leverl, and i feel he can fight the big guys.

    Winner: Clotter.

Agreed, I pick williams too, and Cotto will knockout Zab regardless of what Judah has been saying.

if cotto can withstand judah's storm of the first 4 rounds and dosent get knocked out himself, i have cotto winning by UD by breaking judah down with the body attack

I actually think Judah has a better shot to beat Cotto than Williams has with Margarito. Paul's power is not an issue for Margy. Margy has fought at higher weights and vs better comp.

Clottey's turtle shell defense messed with Margy more than anything, and Williams' defense is much worse from what I gather.
