WORLD TITLE CHANGES HANDS ON STRANGE TKO
Takefumi Sakata TKO3 Lorenzo Parra... One day after losing his WBA flyeight title on the scales, Lorenzo Parra surrendered to Takefumi Sakata in Japan on Sunday, thus allowing Sakata to claim the WBA's version of the 112-pound world title. Parra's corner threw in the towel just fourteen seconds into the third round and said afterward that Parra had been injured when Sakata headbutted Parr in the chest and couldn't lift his arm as a result. This was the third meeting between Parra and Sakata, with Sakata losing twice, including suffering a broken jaw in the first fight. Had the overweight Parra won this bout, the title would have been vacant, but the Japanese fans got to see one of their own claim a world title. As penalty for failing to make weight, Parra also took a 35% pay cut to go through with the bout .
