Raul Martinez gave the fans something to stand up for with his action-packed style and managed to control the tempo for the entire fight against Florida's Kevin Hudgins.
Boxing and slugging against Hudgins with equal effectiveness, Martinez knocked Hudgins down in the fifth round with combinations to the head. Martinez at times looked to have Hudgins in trouble and ready to go down, but was not able to put the finishing touches on his punches.
Martinez would go on to prevail by unanimous decision 80-71, 80-71, and 79-72.
