does the pros of open scoring outweigh the cons?

looking at the pro's and con's of open scoring do the Pro aspects of it outweigh the cons? i know as long as the right man wins boxing is ok but i think we should have some more accurate scoring, not to mention in a close fight in the later rounds the scores could elevate both fighters

Yeah open scoring sucks. The boxer who is winnig could just run the rest of the fight and the one who is losing could just throw in the towel like Urkal. I like the anticipation at the end of not knowing who is winning.

open scoring wouldnt even be necessary if legit judges did the scoring.

I just watched the Mormeck-Bell 2 fight and there was a perfect example of why there should be no open scoring. Mormeck knew in those late rounds all he had to do was hold on and not get knocked out. If there was no open scoring he wouldn't have run as much in the last rounds and mixed it up more. The fight was great all the up to the 9th round when the action slowed because Mormeck knew all he had to do was hold on.

If there wasn't open scoring, the last four rounds would have been awesome and somebody probably would have been KO because both guys were exhausted. Probably would have been a top FOTY candidate and still might be because the first eight rounds were amazing.

wouldnt have open scoring been great in fights like barrera/jmm, if barrera knew he was getting screwed on the cards it coulda made the fight better

It doesnt really help at all. It still doesnt stop the judges from judging like **** really. They could jsut as easily judge badly, and theres nothing you could do about it at the time, is there? Because obviously the commision doesnt do **** after these controversial fights anyway!

I swear, sometimes I think that we need to just stick long time followers of boxing in there, random people do better in scoring than judges do half the time.

Its getting to the point where it feels we're patting them on the head if they make the right decision. I remember a FNF show where Atlas was saying something along the lines of "Good job by the judges, it was a close fight, but Im glad they didnt take that opportunity to choose the more popular guy and made the right decision" I think it was Tarver vs. Harding.
Theres something wrong when thats what you come to think about judges in general.
