    This time NEXT year...

Make 1 or more predictions for the state of the boxing union in this coming year. Who will still be undefeated, who will be legitimate champions, who is going to get a spanking, what surprises will there be, what can be expected?

Create the P4P rakings for this time next year.

Which will be fight of the year?

    Who is headed for retirement?

    Who is the next superstar?

Who will be the best prospect in the sport?

Who's going to get cut down like a blade of grass?

I'll create my P4P when I have more time..

    But for now:

Mike Tyson will get locked down for 18 months or more.

Arturo Gatti will be forced to retire for good.

Luis Collazo will return with a big win.

    Floyd Mayweather WILL retire.

Winky Wright will retire angry and frustrated after losing to Hopkins.

Juan Diaz will be the next superstar.

Ricardo Mayorga will get arrested, again.

Good predictions I hope the Tyson one is wrong. Maybe rehab will do the trick and the judge will go for it. I agree with all of them except Diaz though. Hatton-Castillo will be fight of the year if it stays out of Vegas with those huge gloves.

            Excellent stuff.

I like these picks better than mine.

              In the year 2008:

              Miguel Cotto = Jeff Lacy

There will be fewer than four heavyweigh champs.
                Prospects: Boytsov, Vanes
                Cut down: Miranda
                New Star: Dawson
                Faded: Calzaghe

Whenever I used to think of finally shooting myself and planning it. I always end up waiting to see what happens when I look at the boxing schedule. Sick I know but it works for me.

Joel Casamayor will defeat Freitas and/or Juan Diaz and sit at a higher ranking in my chart.

Hatton will seriously outclass Castillo, prompting talks for JLC's retirement ("Oh, Hatton beat a SHOT Castillo, blah blah.... )

Calzaghe.... I'm unsure. He seems to fight 20 tune-up fights before facing anybody "real". Hopefully he gets in there with the winner of Pantera-Pavlik, if JT doesn't.

On the topic of Pantera/ Pavlik, I think that Edison will pull out the win, via knockout.

JT will face Winky in a rematch, set up late in the year, after Winky beats Hopkins.

Floyd Mayweather will beat DLH, and spend the rest of the year "Retired" before coming back sometime in '08.

Zab Judah will pull out a win against Cotto, and fight Williams by the end of the year. He beats Williams in an early tko, setting up a possible fight with Shane Mosely.
