I hope toney beats up that idiot tommy morrison too, i like jirov though. James Toney isnt done yet, it's just that he fought a guy that's too big like peter. There is no doubt in my mind that toney can beat the overrated scrubs.

you are talking to the biggest james toney fan on this board.

if any of you respect the sport...this shouldn't mean much to you. both of these guys are spent, it's a sad fight.

james beat up jirov in their first fight. landed punches count more than missed punches, blocked punches, and glancing blows. james landed like 400 punches in their first fight and was on his way to stopping jirov. i can't take anyone seriously that said they had jirov winning or anything of the kind.

i dont get why these guys should fight again. the first fight was one of my favorites of all time...seriously, check my highlight on youtube or any posts i've made about james on this board. this fight would be sad....

I think I had Toney winning by 2 points or something, if I remember right. It was actually a close fight, and Toney took over at the end. Jirov just ran out of steam. He wasted so many damn punches and just got tired. Brooks kept wanting Jirov to just keep hitting Toney on the arms, shoulders, wherever, when he'd go defensive, and I think it was a mistake to push that hard. It was a very good fight, a fairly close fight, and sure, I'd like to see it again. Why not?

I just don't see the point in two old guys who are at the end of their ropes beating on each other for....well...nothing.

I thought Jirov needed a knockout to win their first fight going into the 12th. The fight was one of the most competitive, fierce and action packed fights I have seen since the year 2000, but James was just beating on Jirov the whole time. For every landed punch/blocked punch/missed punch Jirov would land...James would land 2 clean punches. That was an excellent example of a clear, competitive win.

Well, we both have the same guy winning, and I'll admit it's been awhile since I've seen the fight, but I remember it being very close.

And yes, we know you are a Toney fan. Not exactly the first time your fight score is slightly Toney slanted if I remember right.

This fight will never happen, don't waste your time talking about this fight.

Toney already beat Jirov when Jirov was undefeated champion at CW, Jirov has shown that he does not belong in the HW division, so what will Toney prove by beating Jirov again, especially the heavyweight version of Jirov!

Toney either will retire or will fight a top 10 heavyweight guy!

I like to think I can score a fight competently, regardless of who is fighting. That may not always be the truth, but I'll always try to explain exactly why it is that I think a particular fighter won.

I can acknowledge James' losses and I can acknowledge his wins. You won't catch me claiming robbery in regards to his losses to Thadzi and the first fight with Griffin...but I will contend that he won the second Griffin fight pretty clearly in my mind (which is what you are assuredly referring to).

Jirov lost a point, was dropped, and was outlanded in many rounds of the fight. It was close and competitive, but I had Toney winning a little more comfortably points wise than the action of the fight would have suggested. I believe I was in line with the 116-110 card.

Jirov was winning before the KD, but Toney closed the show. I was hoping for this fight to be made right after the first one but, don't know what happened. Seriously, this is a fight were they both can make money and people will pay to watch,(I mean HBO or Showtime). Who else can they fight and make money with? They are both washed up good quality fighters so why not make it happen.

                    BUMP

I don't know who I'd pick. Jirov gave Toney all he could handle before succumbing to him in the final round, but both men have been on the decline since then. Who has more left in the tank is the question.

I get upset every time I see that fight because Toney was so on point. He looked so poised, so comfortable in there. He would have unified the cruiserweight belts. His stay at heavy has wasted 3 years that would have added to his legacy. Now he finally looks washed up.
