The flu? No way he could have fought like that for that long and not suffered any ill effects...

This is Bob Arum Spin Control...though I think people are overreacting to Cotto's "subpar" performance. I thought he did just fine.

my thoughts exactly, I didn't think his performance was subpar, he just faced a solid opponent. funny I remember hearing the same thing after the Hatton fight, I doubt it was true tho.

He didn't have flu, that's an absurd notion. If he had flu he would not be boxing he would be lying in bed thinking that dying doesn't seem so bad. Flu is debilitating. You know the guy at the office who is off on Monday because he has flu and he comes in on Tuesday? He's bull****ting. Flu is awful. Cotto may have been sick. But there's no need for excuses based on his performance, he did fine.

truth. people fail to realize that Urkal would've made any fighter look mediocre that night.

lol Unless it was like the first day he had the flu, i dont know about that. I mean Cotto looked alright after the fight, only thing he complained about was the headbutts, Didn't say he was sick or anything. But he did kinda look unmotivated for some of the fight...I thought it was cause he didnt want that cut gettin worse.
