I don't know about Denmark or wherever, but nobody in Britain knows Mikkel Kessler or Joe Calzaghe or pretty much any current boxer outside Mike Tyson, Audley Harrison and Amir Khan.

Boxing doesn't mean anything in Britain anymore. Your a weirdo if you watch it..

I don't think Denmark has too many hardcore boxing fans either, so it's pretty much the same. Our country is so small, people support whatever sport, if somebody does it at world level, and that pretty much makes Kessler a superstar around here, with "sportsman of the year" awards and so on, but most spectators wouldn't know/care who he fought.

I heard there is a boxing subculture in Manchester and has been for many years.

Reed the post as an personal statement, not as a generally - my mistake. Kessler in Denmark is a big hero, but boxing as a hole isn't that big as an entertainment any more. Probably because to many ppv-fights?
