    Maskaev vs Klitschko . . . .

. . . might be in Moscow this June

Sam Peter close to stepping aside???

B*****talk has been informed that representatvies of WBC heavyweight champion Oleg Maskaev and soon-to-be unretired heavyweight Vitali Klitschko have verbally agreed to Sam Peter's terms to step aside and allow a Maskaev-Klitschko fight. Although Peter's co-promoter Dino Duva still has doubts that the papers will get signed, he has drafted an agreement and sent it off to Maskaev and Klitschko, giving them until next week to sign. If they do sign off, Peter would delay his right to challenge for the WBC title and allow Maskaev to take a more lucrative fight against Vitali Klitschko, who formerly held the same title but gave it up in 2005. Maskaev-Klitschko would reportedly take place in Moscow some time in June. Peter would then have the next shot at the winner, although who knows if Klitschko woud head back into retirement.

Ill belive it when i see it. I really think peter should step aside as he would get better recognition fighting vitali. It would be better for the division is Vitali was back.

Just let Maskaev get one last big payday and get out. Then we can have Peter vs. Vitali and that should be a great war.

Agreed, although I think Peter has earned the right to be the guy who knocks Maskaev out. The Peter who fought Toney in january would destroy Maskaev. Peter -- Vitali would be a fantastic fight. I might even pick Peter to win, although Vitali is the toughest fight out there for him.

I'd just like the champions to fight the champions, it's as simple as that really. I think these so-called champions should sort themselves out, then Peter can come into the picture, although that won't happen.
