Lamotta and Marciano were Italian-Americans, not your average run-of the-mill white Americans. I don't know why guys like Tommy Morrison and Darrin Van Horn had china in their beards. Spadafora never struck me as an overwhelmingly tough guy in the beard. He was dropped on several occasions, most notably by Victoriano Sosa.
