You can't compare amateur fights with headgear and big gloves to pro fights fought in terrible weather conditions with tiny gloves. The old timers had it rougher period, let's not downplay their accomplishments. They had it harder than modern fighters period.

The Pittsburgh windmill practiced the "manly art of modified murder" as one writer described his style. Best known for his fights with Tunney. I've always wondered why most hold Greb in higher regard than Tunney...Harry won the first fight with the help of a headbutt, but Tunney came back winning the rematch making that first fight his lone loss. Must be that amazing long fight record...eighty three total bouts for Gene must have been too low for his time...lol
