You beat me to it. Add Lyle, Quarry, Shavers, Chuvalo, Norton and Young. Ali fought in the best Era the Heavyweights have ever seen. Competition alone make me rank Ali as the Greatest, Louis was great but fought bums. Quarry alone was more talented than the majority of the guys Louis beat.

Ali fought in the best era and you should check out some of the Guys from the 70s. Guys like Holyfield would have drowned in Ali's era. Ali may be a tad overrated and I don't think he is a complete fighter by any stretch of the imagination. He never punches to the body and rarely throws a hook. But he dominated the division when it was at its peak though, that is why he is the best heavyweight ever.imo

I think what gets ppl saying hes over rated is what I highlighted. They thing they can just take a fighter and automatically think he would get schooled in that era. Thats stretching the imagination alot there.

I just can't imagine Holyfield consistently beating the same competetion is all. Maybe that is stretching it abit. But the era of the 70s was easily the best.

Mike Tyson gets overrated by people outside the boxing community, but underrated by most of the people that follow the sport, whether or not his opposition was the best ever, he was knocking out people who would be champions today, left right and centre. He's a top 10 heavyweight who's prime was extremely short, which was a pity.. because I doubt we saw the best of him.
