Well, thats the whole problem isnt it? Its also this bizarre triangular logic of bull**** that people are throwing around too. They wont fight Calzaghe because he represents big danger and not a particularly good payday. Calzaghe wont fight Kessler because he represents danger and not a particularly good payday...unless he comes to Britain. Otherwise Calzaghe could make just as good a payday fighting less dangerous fighters without putting his record at risk. The only major difference is that Calzaghe wants to prove he is the best by fighting the best (and make no mistake, all of those guys are rated higher than Kessler), whereas the other guys dont. They want to fight one another, call themselves the best (despite not having done it by facing the best) and avoid Calzaghe.

So why is it that Calzaghe gets criticism for it and they dont?

Truth be told Calzaghe should get no more criticism than those Taylor or Hopkins (perhaps a tad more than Winky who is actually stepping up in his fights a bit more).

but alot of people dont ****in know that though, and frankly i dont think Joe C is better than Wright or Hopkins, i think he is on their level but not better. im not gonna sit here and say because of the lacy fight that somehow hed beat the **** out of 2 of the best fighters in the game.

OK I was using a bit of hyperbole. He is not necessarily 'better' than those two (in terms of career) but I would pick him to beat each. I regard Winky very highly, but I think 168 is a shade too high for him to take on someone of Calzaghe's quality.

Wright/Hopkins have far better resumes than Joe C, im sorry, them fighting each other means just as much as if they took a fight with Joe C and thats in the boxing world, in the US publics eyes, more people care about hopkins/wright because we have seen them plenty of times in major fights, both against trinidad, both against taylor, one against sugar shane, one against de la hoya, i mean, you have to consider the opposition these guys have fought on US soil and consider why the fight is being made in the first place. Its still signifigant, Joe C or not.

Maybe they are avoiding calzhage, but you act as if it gets easier by fighting each other, it doesnt, thats why they escape criticism, (except taylor, rip him all you want)

              Froch is P4P.
And certainly better than Calzaghes first 20.

why doesn't joe just say that he'll fight all the top dogs, all the top names, and then do it. it seems like frank warren is just *****footing around and out waiting not only the competition but his fighter too.

all this bullmess of " if the american people want it ", bull**** just lace them up and fight the top names. if they want to make it happen both sides can make it happen, plain and simple.

i'm sure both sides are hiding behind the dollar, but warren's match making with joe has been nothing but dodgy and very favorable for joe. there is no gamble other than getting in the ring, but warren makes sure that his fighter is the favorite everytime, never putting him in against a guy that is truely in his prime. i've said it before and will say it again until it stops, frank warren matches calzaghe with guys who are iether past their prime or not ready to fight on joe's level, and thats a fact. i'm not saying joe has fought softies but he never fought any of the big names on his resume in their prime, and i'm not going by his opponents records either, i'm talking about guys that are at their peak, and the guys that were at their peak who fought joe were always a caliber below him.

all i'm saying is quit pointing fingers and quit hiding behind the money issue or the fighting in the USA issue, just make the fights happen. like i said if both sides want to make it happen then they'll come to terms, if the fighters really really want to fight for pride and fighting sakes, then they'll make it happen, but it seems the majority of fighters especially ones that have made a fair bit of change don't want to fight to see who is better with the prize being the icing on the cake, they want to fight for cash only and if they win then they can brag and talk ****, i think that's the problem with boxing right now, boxers are concerned with who makes more than who is really the best! and that's is just another weight that is tied to boxing and is keeping it down.

make the fights ****ing happen for **** sake!

one other thing calzaghe needs to start fighting guys that are worhty of being in the ring with him, nothing against manfredo jr, but he is another example of a young fighter that isnt ready to step it up to joes level, manfredo needs more fights, about 3-4 more, and this whole manfredo is for publicity, bull****, he's only mostly known up in providence rhode island where he's from. you ask even the casual boxing fan on who he is and about 85-90% don't have a clue, so that throws that crap excuse out the window.

good action packed fights are what is going to get you noticed and get you known in the states. and joe has the style to make those kinds of fights anywhere in the world, i just think that is is wasting his potential of becoming a cross over super star. i don't think that joe can beat everyone but he can make some exciting fights if he actually signs to fight guys.

Best thing to happen is if Calzaghe retired now, the SMW division wouldn't be held hostage by a man claiming to be the champ but refusing to prove it by fighting the best opponents. The worst thing that could ever happen to the division was when Calzaghe got the Ring belt by fighting no. 3, something that wouldn't have happened if no. 3 hadn't been an American. And now Calzaghe and his fanboys can use the ring belt to claim that he is the best, even though he didn't beat no. 2 to win it

True enough that. On all levels.

The whole Calzaghe-US thing aint going to happen is it. The big names don't want a bar of him and Calzaghe doesn't want to travel for any old cannon fodder. My money's on a Kessler fight now - even given their amateurish posturings it's looking the easiest fight to make, and is pretty low risk really given that he's made a career of beating these robotic Euro fighters.
