The bigger fights for both were in the US. Mayweather currently is participating in one of the biggest fights of the last 20 years. Jones could've tested himself more with opponents outside of the US but it doesn't make those fights necessarily big or lucruative.

Why wasnt it a problem for Prince Naseem or Lennox Lewis to fight here? For their respective divisions the best fights were here, in their primes they knew the best opponents would be located here and didint wait until the tale end of their respective careers to do so. You telling me that for the last decade of Joe C's career, there were NO AVAILABLE fights, even tuneup fights for him to come here? Its not a problem for Hatton to take these BS fights, but it is for Joe C? get out of hereComment

Calzaghe's camp talk so much **** its unbelievable.
After 10 years of not getting the big fights he gets one because Lacy manned up and came to England. Now Calzaghe should pay Kessler 50-50 to fight in the UK, it IS the fight people want to see.
Great fighter, crap legacy.Comment

Oh well? The reason boxing is slipping away is cos you Americans are too lazy to fight around the world. The UFC is planning to take its P.P.V's around the world and ti will grow but boxing is full of lazy ***s that think they can just fight in their own country and be known around the world. That's why nobody knows who the **** Floyd Mayweather is.
And Calzaghe has stated he wants the best. In my opinion Hopkins, Wright and Taylor all lose to Calzaghe. Calzaghe should get it on with Roy Jones and whoop his old slow ass then Hopkins will be forced to fight him.Comment

Id say as opposed to reading and understanding the point, your choosing to simply disagree by trying to convince others that somehow fighting in the United States does nothing to boost your profile as a fighter, Anorak has tried this argument as well. This logic has been proven false, so id say, your not as much psychic as much as someone has already given you the proper reasoning behind why coming here is so important, and choosing to discard it as opposed to accepting that this is the way it is. Nobody has ever become a worldwide star without a career defining fight here to my knowledge. i mean WORLD WIDE star.Comment

In all respect to Hatton it's obvious he is trying to make it happen. he's not deliberately taking an easy route, its just not opened up. Calzaghe (for whatever reasons) doesn't want the American dream bad enough to make it happen.
It's a shame, because I think his style would have caused anyone around 160-175 problems except RJJ in his LHW years.Comment

The difference, were not a small island. Were a vast reigon where leaving one state can earn you a ****load of hate. Fighting in Atlantic city, or florida, or LA, or New York, or Vegas is the same as if i fought in Sheffield, The Netherlands, Sweden, Spain. All of those places pose different areas of fandom and support.
The bottom line is, America has better champions fighting here from around the world, far more than in europe, this is a fact. The best fighters come to fight here, Mexicans, Puerto ricans (who are americans anyway), Columbians, Asians etc who are great champions, prove it here along with americans. Thats the difference between our place and yours, thats why this place is the way it is. Thats why we hold the standard we hold.
People dream of a title fight in Vegas, hardly anyone dreams of a title fight in europe.
As for the point of The Blow coming over, he's an established world champion. Why would a world champion come over to another country for chump change just because "we don't care"? Or are you telling me The Blow could have got a $10mil payday for fighting Hopkins when he was in his 20s and missed out?Comment
