    "Mighty" Mike Anchondo

What do you think of him?

I gotta tell you, Mike is a good fighter but needs alot of work. His publicist asked me for my opinion on him. I sent him a four paragraph essay breaking down every minute flaw I could conjur, and then hysterically, the publicist shows him and says this is what my people are saying about you. Mike showed good honesty in saying "You know what, that guy is right."

Mike is a guy with alot of talent, but doesn't do what he needs to do out of the ring. If he gets his head on straight, he can get alot done in this sport. He has a great personality and is a very nice guy, even though he's ****y as hell. I'd like to see him get his **** together and make a serious run at 135.

I actually had a good heart to heart with Mike this past saturday at the Home Depot Center.

He was really excited about his upcoming ESPN date and was quite humble.

I told him I was going to be upfront with him and he told me to fire away. I told him that when I went home and told my boxing buddies what a great guy Mike Anchondo was they were all going to say the exact same thing which was "so what he quit against Barrios"

He ancknowledged that my question was a completely valid one and I point blank asked him how I should asnwer critics that say what I had just told him.

Mike said it was 1 night, he has quit partying and some of his personal trouble is now behind him ( I know it sounds cliche for a fighter). Time will tell but Mike has a fan for life with me...he was honest he accepted what I had to say...and told me things will be different statrting on ESPN...all I can do is believe him until he lets me down again!

Mighty Mike was alot of fun to be around and certainly like all regarded prospects deserves a second look!

I was there for that Barrios fight. I dont know how much of his performance had to do with his weight issues, but he just didnt look like he belonged in the ring that night. He seemed dry and it also seemed like his hands werent reacting to the openings he saw. It seemed as if he was a step behind everything. I was dissapointed, since I had heard alot about him and was looking forward to seeing a good performance. It's been awhile and I think he's only had one fight since then, so maybe he used to time off to straighten out.
