I thought I heard something about his next fight being on ABC, which would be huge for boxing of course. I would sincerely hope it's against a good opponent and a good style matchup, and perhaps a nice undercard fight to go with it.
If boxing is to get some of its mainstream following back, a fight on ABC is a huge boost, especially right before DLH-Mayweather. But it really NEEDS to be a good fight, hopefully a great fight, and I'm weary of an older Tarver and whether he's capable of making a good fight. I know his first fight with Roy and his two fights with Johnson were pretty good, but I hope if this happens it's at least as exciting as those fights.
He has a fight coming up, I forget the exact date.. But he asked a rapper I produce for (from the tampa area) to make an entrance song for his next bout
He is also starting his own record label
Yo...yo.....yo....check this out
He comes from Tampa, Florida and his name's Antonio
And he used ta smoke crack, smack and toot some blow
He fought a washed up Roy and beat him to the punch
And outta all his wins that's the best of the bunch
He struggled with Glen Johnson a man Woods outpointed
To call him the legend killer gets my nose all kinda outjointed
Roy let him win cos he really hates his poppy
**** that roy that night you just got real kinda sloppy
So here sits Antonio right on top of the world
And feelin pleased as punch bout the way his life unfurled,
But ****, what's this, he says staring off into the distance
It's a 41 year old career middlweight who's showing some subsistence
**** me I can make some real money there
And Jermaine Taylor beat him twice, and he's losing half his hair!
But come fight night I realise I'm not as good as I thought
When I left the ring that night most people didnt even know that I'd fought
I ruined my reputation but thought I was the ****
Cos that Rocky movie I starred in was sure to be a hit
I'm a cross over movie star now, the people they all love me
**** that Tony people turned up cos they wanted to watch you lose to Rocky
Turns down a fight with a recently humbled Jeff Lacy
Thinks that he's the **** and that he needs to get paid more see
So now Antonio's finished and that's the moral of this story
Dont get too big for your boots and think you're entitled to glory
Tarver has his downfall and it not one of his first loss.
He is a great fighter that alway stand up after every loss from Harding to Roy and Johnson and Hopkins would be the same too.
and he started late had drug problem kick back the bad habit to become a champion is something good and you dont see much like that in boxing cleaning people lifes
