Basically, if you're not making the minimum, it all comes down to popularity. Do people want to see you or not?

for De La Hoya vs. Mayweather on May 5th

they will each be getting $20 million.

but ya, thats a rare case, doesnt happen often.

Jorge Arce made $99,000 in his last fight, i saw the check.
It really varies alot, you can never know exactly.

Plus they make alot on endorsments/sponsorships with patches on the boxing trunks and robes and things like that.

There are other factors, such as nationality and popularity before turning pro. For example both Fraudley Harrison and Amir Khan were wildly popular in Britain thanks to their respective olympic medal wins, and were able to secure good television deals long before a less fortunate individual would be able to even hope of being seen on such a platform. Fighters that are popular will make more money than fighters who are not regardless of style. For example Floyd Mayweather Jr has been considered P4P the best on the planet for some years now, but it's only with the De La Hoya fight that his earnngs are reaching stratospheric proportions. Gatti on the other hand has never been a pound for pounder but his beloved status thanks to his never say die attitude and unique habit of blocking punches with his face has made him pretty rich.
