      Reason #2

MMA attracts lots of ****sexuals that generally don't like to see violence but don't mind seeing men rolling and hugging on the ground while in between each other's legs.

The UFC is being marketed a lot better now than boxing. You have a deal with Spike TV and a reality show, you cut a deal with sports bar chains to show the events and you invest heavily in getting the brand known. Boxing is boxing and has always been there. And it will still be there as at least a fringe sport after the MMA craze has left us.

Boxing is making something of a comeback of recent months though. There's a dearth of huge American stars unfortunately which limits the audience in America. It's big in Britain though.

alot of times in boxing the fight can get a lull because of too much clinching or too much running.

in mma alot of fights are like gatti vs ward...action packed and non stop.

what can boxing do as a whole to improve the excitment? with only a small handful of exciting fighters out in boxing and all of them are in the lower weights and americans dont watch lower weights.

Also Open scoring is bad...get rid of that open scoring crap.
Well no matter what you say boxing is boxing with everything in it included. And that separate a boxing fan from a wanna be fan. The people watching MMA are not the real fans of the sweet science, these are the people who wants to see blood.

i sort of see an annaligy with when in the '60's baseball which was always #1 american sport started to slip popularity wise below football. especially
                  with advent of superbowl.

i can see the reasons why casual boxing fans see more in mma than the sweetscience.
but for some reason imo you put any of these hulky mma champs in the ring with a second tier boxer in a real boxing match and they would look like clubfighters.
it would show how tuff it is to be a good boxer.
the way i see it an mma champ may win in an alley fight against a comparable boxing champ. but in the ring in a boxing match noooooo
                  way.
