Collazo out for 5 or 6 months!

    NEWS FLASH

Collazo out 5 or 6 months!

    By Jason "J-Gon" Gonzalez

Just last week, former WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo underwent hand surgery to repair an injury sustained in his lopsided decision loss to "Sugar" Shane Mosley two weeks ago. According to his trainer/manager Nirmal Lorrick, "Surgery was a success." Lorrick explained, "Right now we are looking to start therapy in the following weeks to come. The injury was worse than what we initially thought. His thumb literally had to be sewed back together. When the ligament tore, it separated the bone. The fracture revealed bone fragments in the thumb. We will be looking to come back in five or six months. And nothing has changed; we are still coming for the big dogs. Hopefully Shane will give us a rematch when we have both hands."

I knew it was a bad injury.

Another decieving win for Shane Mosley. I like the guy, but he hasn't "turned back the clock"

Collazo was taking over the fight in the 2nd round, he almost floored Mosley twice with two huge left hands, set up by the right hand.

As soon as he hurt his hand in round three, he couldnt land it anymore

He didnt even come close to flooring Mosley at all. Mosley was clearly the better man that whole fight. Collazo wasnt "taking over" anything, he just had a good round. It happens, people win rounds. Mosley put on a great performance and give him credit instead of taking away from it.

Your just mad because Collazo spanked Hatton and Mosley spanked Collazo. So your looking for some way to make yourself feel better.

i would like nothing more then to give Mosley credit, he use to be one of my favorites to watch.

But its more then just a "coincidence" that just when Collazo starts nailing mosley at WILL with his left hand, he suddenly stops throwing it the very next round!

And that Big Left in round 2 basically lifted Mosley off the ground and threw him against the ropes. If you dont think that was a HUGE punch, u gotta see it again.

If it wasnt for Mosleys granite chin, he would have probably been out for the count

Ok Collazo certainly wasnt landing his left hand at will lol. Sure he landed a couple shots but your exagerating. Yea that was a "huge" punch, but because it was huge doesnt mean he almost floored Mosley like you said before. Sure it was huge, but it didnt almost floor Mosley at all. Mosley took the shot very well and kept on fighting. Collazo also doesnt have a lot of punching power. It was a solid shot but not from a strong puncher.

Man you exxagerate a lot. Collazo was hitting Mosley with left hands at will and almost floored Mosley a couple times. Then his hurt hand wouldnt let him continue. According to you that is.

hahahahaha im just going to stop there. Look at what your saying. Do you actually believe this stuff?

he was wasnt he? He landed the left, big lefts, 3 or 4 times in round 2. thats a considerable step up from round 1

by round 5, he could be landing plenty more of them, if he didnt hurt his right hand.

Maybe i am exaggerating, i havent seen the fight since feb 10th i can hardly remember, but i highly doubt the fight would have gone the same way if collazo had two hands in the fight.

mosley may have still won the fight by a few points, but by round 10, i think collazo could have been very much in the fight.

All I know is that I watched that fight expecting to see some sort of colossal beatdown for Mosley and it wasn't nearly as clear cut as it was supposed to be. I think the reports online dismissing Collazo's performance had more to do with a desire to slate Hatton than a desire to praise Mosley.

I am happy that the old man Mosely won, but i now see why he beat Collazo so easily.

How come Collazo was throwing his left throughout the fight?

He could of still injured it early, but I really want to know the truth, when.

It didn't matter about the thumb. Many boxers have fought with worse and won. Floyd injures his hand all the time, yet doesn't lose. Gatti, need I say anything. Ali used to hurt his hands from what I hear. Mosley himself if I am not mistaken has fought with an injured hand. Oscar fights with hand and shoulder problems.

Collazo looked more confused than anything. He got schooled by the better fighter, and by a fighter that is not in his prime. If this was the Shane that fought Oscar the first time, I would of turned it off after a few rounds.

No way was Shane ever goint to be knocked out, that is absurd. The only time Shane has ever been seriously hurt was when he got headbutted by Forrest; then Forrest took advantage by landing bomb after bomb, but he still couldn't finish iron chin Shane.

                    Exactly...

I wouldn't be surprised if Don King went to Collazo's room afterwards and broke his thumb, like a Mob guy.

The fact is, Collazo just lost to a fighter that was past his prime and couldn't adapt.

Lets just settle this, Hatton should step up and fight Shane next.
