I have my hopes on Miranda, but what if Green wins? Than he's just another intriguing story that may end up falling short for the majority of his career. Not to say we didn't learn through this article, but then you'd have to attempt to find Green and start doing articles on him. Every boxing writer's hope is to get in cozy with a boxer before they explode and then be a superstar's favorite outlet to the media, no?

Allan Green is an exceptional fighter, no doubt about it. I don't get cozy with no one, I just write about what interests me.

For real, homelessness isn't like it is here. There, there is no help for that stuff.

Well, that's good. As long as you love your job it helps you put out good articles. I know if I was doing what you did I'd find a prospect I thought was going somewhere and, if he was a nice guy, position myself to be his man in the media. That can never hurt.

The trick is that you don't want to get attached in there because then you can't do your job. The objective of a writer is to stay, well, objective. One time I got personal, when Jerson Ravelo fought Allan Green. He's a Jersey fighter who I've followed since he turned pro. I had done some interviews and played basketball with him, and then when it came to the fight, I was upset when Jerson lost. I had picked with my heart instead of my head, which is the wrong thing to do.

I understand what you mean. I've written for newspapers and I know about journalistic integrity and being objective- but no one is so objective in a sport as to be blind to talent. What I meant was, if you found someone extremely talented that you knew was going to hit the top...it wouldn't hurt to get yourself in with a fighter's camp and be the preferred voice for him when it comes to the media. I mean, it's just like being the writer of someone's biography, or being a reporter with an exclusive story...'twas all I meant.

Yeah, pretty much- and staying on terms with Berto and constantly doing interviews, etc. I actually live about 15 minutes away from Winter Park. I always think about trying to track him down and have a talk with him.
