Rocky 3, Julian Jackson, Mike Tyson, and Johnny Tapia.

all three fighters kept me enamored with the sport, all were at different times too. i was a little guy and my attention was **** basically, until one of each of those came popping up in my life. oh and then local boxing hero at the time was doing really good Jeremy Williams from Long Beach, he got press and was talked about when i was growing up in the LB, that made me follow boxing until i couldnt let boxing out of my sight.

It's kind of weird but...wrestling. I was always a little interested in boxing, maybe watching an old Ali fight when it was on, I read Cinderella Man, playing the video games, and of course was a big Rocky fan. But I never really got into all that much. I've always been competitive, almost to a fault(I never play nice, no matter what the game...gym class, I'm in there to win). This year, I decided to try wrestling(I'm a senior in HS). I loved it. The 1-on-1 competition is amazing. Absolutely awesome. Since I'm a senior, I won't be able to do it ever again(besides open tournaments, but to be completely honest these would kind of be a waste of time, I'm not that great.)

Anyways, I guess I see boxing as very similar to wrestling, the 1-on1 competition and whatnot.

Just typing this makes me miss wrestling, and it's only been over a week. I can't wait to start boxing.

When I was young the sport was really popular and I tried the gloves on and did a friendly boxing with a few of my peeps, I always got pissed in sports like basketball and other team sports since you gotta depend on someone else, so the nature of it attracted me right away... As from media, Roy Jones was the one that gave me that extra flare, seeing him do the kinda stuff you only see in the movies amazed me...
