If Lewis gets KO'D by Klitchko...

Would it effect his status as a great heavyweight?

    NO..

And Both fighter have nothing to gain from this fight..

If Lennox wins It just proves the naysayers correct.. that this is the worst ERA ever.. and If Vitali wins.. so what??.. he beats a guy who is 41 and 3 years removed from the sport..
This fight should have happened 3 and half years ago.. its TOO late IMHO..

Yeah except $25 million plus for each of them and a huge boost to boxing and the heavyweight division. That is really what matters in this whole situation. Cha Ching!

There's a lot of assumptions here though. For this fight to happen it has to be for Heavyweight championship of the world. So first Vitali has to beat Maskaev. Then there's Sam Peter who will be in contention. Assuming he ebats both of those and the fight hasn't gone off the boil then what?

No. not at all. But i want to see this fight.

And i dont see how this fight would prove this is the worst heavyweight era ever...

              That doesnt make any sense...

They arent fighting anyone in the division right now... they are fighting eachother. Both would be coming back from a long break from the ring

What I am saying is NO matter who wins it there will be a legion of people trying to discredit the winner.. One argument of course is that this era is so weak Of course a 41 year can come out of retirement and win the belt..
meaning it would not add or take away from lennoxes legacy.. whic is what the THREAD question is..

DOnt see whats so confusing about it

                  lennox is coming back?!

don't boxers learn anything from history?

                  look at
                  jeffries
                  ali
                  frazier
                  holmes
                  louis
                  tyson
                  etc etc

all were great but either kept fighting for too long or came back and got their asses whooped!

if lewis can comeback and win, FANTASTIC, but if he is simply a slow guy with some skills he may get his ass kicked

This wont take anything away from his legacy. If a fight would take anything away from his legacy it is the rahman and mcoll fights. But yes they are both coming back from layoffs so it would even.
But is this really happening or just talk. It seems a bit more than talk this time though. Maybe Lewis aint happy how the last fight ended. People saying he was losing and only won because of cuts. This comeback is for only 1 fight though isnt it, which doesnt seem to bad for how many million it would be.
