For all you that may not yet know, Morrison was a big time fighter back in the day, pitted against A class opponents. He even outpointed an aging Foreman for a piece of the world title. A positive HIV test ended his career. He's now on the comeback trail, amidst lots of controversy. No real boxing state will sanction him due to possible transmission of the disease, so he had to go to West ******ia to get a fight.
I flicked on the Versus channel hoping to see the fight itself, but the commentators said they were not allowed to show it, only "video photos" of the fight and an interview. So, I'm thinking to myself, he's rusty and they don't want him shaking it off on national television. That's fine, I thought. So I watch "Baby" Joe Mesi dismantle some 40 year old guy without much fight in him. Then comes the interview.
The questioning cruised along until it hit his "negative" HIV test. When asked who conducted the test and where it was conducted, Morrison clearly hesitated for a moment. Then, a mysterious voice from off camera (Morrisons legal advisor) said that his client could not answer that question.
They later talked to the doctor representing the West ******ia athletic commission. It seems the state did not take the test themselves. Morrison's doctor took the test, and then sent it to the commission.
Morrison claims that steriods made the tests positive, not HIV. I doubt that he would have ended his career if he wasn't 1000% sure he was positive. The whole situation smells funny to me. I guess only time will tell if he truly is negative.
