as you probably dont know, robinson retired as a result from heat prostration in that bout, the ref had to be replaced after the 10th round himself.... robinson shead on all scorecards to the tune of 10-3, 9-3-1, 7-3-3.... it took him nearly 5 months to recover from the affects and return to training.. had he been able to even stand up ( 104 deg F) he would have won the light heavy title quite easily

cause if you are referring to that then it proves your ignorance, being that SRR was a Welterweight champ and middlewight champ and fought many fights or equal or greater importance

he also avenged his defeats to lamotta and turpin with knockout victories on both accounts.... he avenged his first loss to lamotta only three weeks later! and he fought a 10 round fight in between....

robinson was named fighter of the year by ring magazine 9 years apart... mayweather has only been a pro for 10..... robinson was welterweight world champion in 1946 and held various world titles until 1960, a world champion for 14 years, and wouldve been 20 but he was denied a shot at the welterweight title for almost 5 years cause he was black.....

robinson was middlweight champion at the age of 39!!

oh i know this, i just thought id put it down in black and white for people to see some of the main things that separate him from a guy like mayweather.

Beating De La Hoya would still have him rank far below any of those guys.

I would put him in my top 25 if Floyd beats DLH, and at least one of the following: Cotto, Margarito (to silence people), or Hatton (providning that he reamains undefeated).

i would consider floyd a much more accomplished fighter had he remained at welterweight and defeated Cotto or Margarito and then Moseley.... i also would find it more significant if he went down to 140 to fight ricky hatton, though i understand a lot of people would probably disagree with me.

without leaving any sort of legacy at any one weight division makes it very hard to put his accomplishments into perspective... beating de la hoya wont sort it out either..... cause he wont remain at 154 (corey spinks unification fight.... puke) and who knows who he might cherry pick when he comes back down..
