Mayweather: "I'll Box Circles Around Pacquiao"

In a recent interview conducted by BoxingScene scribe Brent Matteo Alderson with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., the pound-for-pound debate was brought up over which fighter should be recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport - Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao. [details]

This brings up an interesting question, is Floyd's move up in weight permanent? He says he is the best fighter from 130-154, right? Does that mean he'll eventually drop back down to the weight he started at if the money is right? I mean, Mayweather-Pacquiao would be a massive mega-money fight, wouldn't it? If we learn that Floyd can't hang at junior middleweight does that mean he will slide back down to welter, junior welter or below? How much strain would it put on his body to swing up from 130, all the way to 154, back down again?

It brings up the question, what weight is most natural for him? Should we credit him for fighting at a lower weight than he should have, struggling to make weight, or do we credit him with now being so far heavier than he should be that it's an amazing thing he's still able to fight?

I can't disagree with mayweather saying he'd box circles around Pacquiao, he would.

However I can say I've yet to hear anybody chant "Pretty Boy" while he was entering the ring, or fighting for that matter.

How shocking would it be for Floyd to drop back down over twenty pound after fighting Oscar to take on Pac-man? There's too many big money fights he'd be passing up on the way down (Mosley, Hatton, etc.), so it would never happen, but what if he beat Oscar, and then popped on down? How much excitement would there be for this fight, and how much shock?

          WTF??!!!!

right after JMM-PAC fight PBF said :

'How can you be KD 3 times and get a draw'?

I dont know the exact quote but he's saying that PAC won that fight. now he's saying the opposite. his name is perfect for him. he's like a weather.

I thought Mayweather was a pacman fan, he was cheering for manny when pac knocks out Morales in their 2nd.fight, perhaps floyd may have gotten mad with the way HBO commentators were saying if floyd could handle the pressure pacquiao brings during the grand finale.

It doesn't matter. Manny is screwing up his life now and is going to quit boxing.

I'm very dissapointed with the guy.

First he trains to be the best in the world, then becomes a politician.

If he does get elected I will lose all hope in the filipino race for being so ******. I mean the guy only has a 5th grade education and everyones going to vote for him?

Now don't tell me that no one is going to vote for him because everyone wants him to keep boxing.

Because in the history of the phillipines the filipinos have elected a 40 year old washed up actor who never finished highschool (Joseph Estrada) . And almost by the slightest of margins elected a man who dropped out of highschool to pursue a career as a stuntman and acted in cheap filipino movies. Then people started blaming his loss in the elections because the other candidate (Gloria Macapagal Arroyo) apparently cheated. Whats even more amazing is the fact that while Gloria was in presidency the economy actually started going up! infact the economy has just reached a 6 year high and is still making progress. And despite all her achievements for the country the filipinos still want her out.

That is how I know that Manny is going to win the elections.

So this fantasy match up is never going to happen.

ehh PBF is too big for Paq I think...Not like Paq cant be hit or has any sense of defense. Within the first 3 rounds of the las Morales fight, Morales still put glove on Paq. So did Larios...Now put some of that PBF touch on it, Im pretty sure it would be a wrap. Floyd would fight cautious though, especially after being through the first 4 rounds with Zab, another fast left hander.

You're looking into the JMM fight too much. What Mayweather says is correct. If you score 3 KD's on your opponent in the first round and get out with a draw... you "lost" the fight.
