While watching the fight with Golota, I noticed that, while his punches were nowhere near as plentiful as Golota's, Byrd's punches, when thrown, almost always landed. He seems to have a pinpoint accuracy with them. Why then, if his aim is so good, does he not choose to be more offensive. His record indicates that he has 20 kayos, and that is no small number, so why is not more offensive?
A question about Byrd

Well he doesn't throw that many puches. The less you throw with his defensive style the more likely he is to hit you because you are busy getting frustrated just trying to land something against him that his punches surprise you. I agree Byrd hits harder than most people give him credit for. Ike and Vitali agree as well. -
Byrd can hit hard but on a scale factor most heavyweights would beat him power wise as he's not a natural heavyweight like most of the others.Comment

I agree!!! I think Byrd has been really working on his power too to become more of an attraction!!!Comment

It was a similar situation to the Trinidad fight, Golota just stood there.Comment

He stood there because he did not respect Byrd's power. The fight with Byrd was a close one but the ref did not count Byrd's glove touching the canvas as a knockdown when he should have. If he counts that as a knockdown then it's a clear cut decision for Golota, but because of his reputation he will not get any good judgements.Originally posted by GodzHandIt was a similar situation to the Trinidad fight, Golota just stood there.Comment

I'm just curious, i mean he is obviously not a natural heavyweight, but lets say byrd spent a year getting down to light HW, or even at an extreme super middleweight, (hence why i said a year), and the with his experience against the Heavy's he could really whoop some ass in the lower divisions.
But i know easier said than doneComment

Its just not in Byrd's nature to throw many punches. He is a defenive oriented fighter who likes to make people miss and counter. He is more powerful than people give him credit for and could actually have more KOs if he had a more agressive offense, but its just not his style.
If he dropped weight and went doen to the light-heavy division he be KOing guys left and right.Comment
