Duran and Mayweather - KINGS of defense

Duran's head movement is fantastic. Slipping right, left, getting low, rolling, twisting, turning, pulling you name it. PLUS he could do it while moving. Combining defense with offense is integral and he did it. When he was on and had that jab pumping, making you miss and coming to punish you with great rights and a good left, you were in the presence of arguably the best ever.

Duran's knack of of ducking under a shot then throwing a hook or moving his head as the blow arrives to lessen the impact or rolling with the punches and slipping shots with head movement I don't see that level of skill today. The guys is amazing, just moves at the last moment - how does he do it?? It's as if he senses the shot, man.


There has probably been one, maybe two fights where Mayweather hasn't got his opponents to land just 5-25% of their shots.

The four lines of defence are - foot movement, arm movement, head movement and athleticism.

Foot movement - not a thing Mayweather can't do.
Arm movement - ditto.
Head movement - ditto.
Athleticism - in the RARE occassion Mayweather is caught out of textbook position he can maneuver himself out impeccably.

Mayweather has the most complete defense in history, and is the most complete fighter (skill-wise) in history. Period.

Thats a crazy statement. Perhaps if you said "and is the most technically complete/efficient/gifted fighter in history" you may find it a little more defensible. But a lot of the things that it would take to be the most generally complete fighter in history, such as heart, commitment, recovery, big-fight capabilities etc etc, PBF hasnt even had the opportunity to prove yet.

Ray Robinson is more of a complete fighter.He had everything Floyd has,plus much more power.Although I agree that Floyd is extremely gifted.
