Dennis Hobson and Bob Arum announced that Hatton will defend his IBO light welterweight title against Jose Luis Castillo at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on June 23 June. Both fighters predicted victory and Hatton admitted that Castillo would be his toughest challenge so far in a 42 bout career.
