  • Audley Harrison: Force Lost and Dreams Unrealised

In the book ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest’ there is a scene in which a group of mental patients gather together for what is supposed to be a mutually beneficial group therapy session, it instead becomes what is known in farming circles as a pecking frenzy. As the designated inmate is encouraged to reveal his hopes and neuroses’ the rest of the group jump on him and completely emasculate the character. At its end the character is left destroyed before his peers and fellow patients. [details]

i agree that despite his arrogance he should not have gotten booed when he got up but i do think if he had done the same thing as an american IN america he would also have been booed. he said he was a future champ and yet he never had the fight within him. he is a big guy but as the saying goes; 'it's not the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog!' audley unfortunately had a toy poodle!

In his fight against danny williams-which was sold to be the reignition of his lagging career- Audley did well BUT if you look at the fight danny was mostly just covering his face and letting audley punch. Audley had nothing to fear from danny!

The fight with sprott started much the same way but sprott started to fight back. audley was shaken by the slightest attempt by sprott to fight back and ended up paying the price.

The truth is inspite of his recent easy fights (even the ones he lost) his boxing skills had eroded and his speed had gone.

Audley having a weak chin is not the sole reason for his lack of success.
Frank bruno had a weak chin and yet due to his heart and his skills we were proud for people to call him the pride of great britain. Twice did bruno come close to winning the title by decision only to be knocked out BUT he kept coming back; he had fighting spirit, something audley lacked.
