... everyone's talking about how **** Audley is, but didn't he box a perfect plan last night? You could see even in the first round that his impenetrable guard was perplexing Audley. In his mind Audley was thinking "what do I do now? If I hit his arms I might get worn out after 30 seconds".
I actually like Sprott quite a bit. I think he's incredibly underrated as a technician, most of his setbacks occuring because he's really a cruiser in with the big boys.
However, there's a lot his losses that aren't necessarily what they seem on paper... in the second Danny Williams fight he was outboxing Danny and closing his eye before Danny found the good fortune of distracting him by hitting him in the nuts. (In fairness, he didn't really win the third, so it's all square). The Matt Skelton fight he was possibly ahead on the cards and collapsed in the 12th through exhaustation. However, a less lenient ref wouldn't have let Skelton get away with the dirtiest boxing I've ever seen, draining the guy. Since fighting in Europe, the poor bastard's gone 2-3 in Germany. The fact that his two wins were against unbeaten Germans means he must have done well, and a loss in Germany (other than stoppage) is always open to question.
The guy's no world beater, but he's a good guy and better than his record suggests. Last night - a flash KD aside - he fought a perfect fight. He may also now be the most popular man in the country, if not the world.
