1. Malinaggi looked good and Cherry was the perfect opponent for him to do just that.

2. Powell did not look that impressive. Perhaps he's trying to learn too many new things under McGirt, or it could have been Smith's awkward counter-punching style. Two counter-punchers don't mix very well, generally. Anyway, I think he probably did enough to win; but that was clearly a hometown score. Smith didn't get blown out like the judges would have you think.

3. The other kid, who's name escapes me, showed quick hand and decent power; but there's only so much you can tell from the competion he had.


Either way, good ESPN type of card for HBO.
