UFC president Dana White said he was distraught and angry when he learned of the positive tests.

"It's a huge blow, a devastating blow," White said. "The bottom line is we invest a lot of money in our fighters trying to promote them and build them. We're building a brand and when something like this happens, it's devastating. It's a huge black eye for our sport."

"Bottom line, guys have to learn to play by the rules, or they're done with us," White said.

Fighters in all championship bouts are tested. On nontitle fight cards, the commission randomly tests two to four fighters.


One source, Chris, who would only allow his first name to be used, is a therapist and personal trainer who regularly services UFC and MMA fighters from other organizations, says that the true number of MMA fighters who are competing with the help of steroids is much larger than one would think.

“If we took a poll of MMA fighters, anonymously, where they would have to answer if they use steroids the results would be alarming,” says Chris. “I’ve injected at least 50 of them over that last three years. These guys want to be superstars and if you want to be a superstar you have stand out from the rest or at the very least keep up. They (UFC) can make up all the rules they want, but the bottom line is that they want superstar comic book heroes in there. It’s what the fans like. It’s what makes them money.”

That's not the entire sport, that's ridiculous.

There are plenty of guys who will make a transition from PRIDE in the next couple of years. Not to mention those guys named are all suspect anyways when it comes to using steroids. Especially Ken Shamrock.

It doesnt suprise me. These guys put their bodies through a lot obviously. Plenty of boxers do steroids Im sure. Its in almost every sport.

All these dudes thta say any MMA Fighter could take a Boxing fighter...I'm starting to believe them.. NO **** THEIR TALENT IS TAKING ROIDS.. While our talent gets tested and does it Naturaly.. This only makes our sport look better though so I'm happy they found this out!

Wow, I'm surprised. Not that they are taking steroids, but that they got caught. Most of those names have been around for quite awhile and should know how to beat the tests. Barnett has been busted before, long ago, and was stripped of his title and left the UFC to do wrestling in Japan.

Boxers, baseball and football players all use steroids and HGH rampantly, but they are just very slick about masking it. The UFC fighters just have some catching up to do with the whole science of cheating.

Yeah that's the darkside of MMA.

It's rampant and I think it's starting to take away from the art seriously.

I think many pro sport people use steriod because that is the way the competit e****ally if there is whole lot of money invovle in it.

for example there was in football ( where you guys call it soccer) anyway there was a team italian team Juvintus who had a case and it was close those dude where powerful abit and there was Napeole where Maradonna was there it was said that nearly the whole team to crack or herion.

these stuff really excite because if any of these fighter wanna **** talk i they will embaress him in public by saying he been using steroid.
that is not the dark side of the UFC but for sport evolvment with lot of money and now people are play it for the money. I dont get suprised many guy from NFL, NBA and other sport get caught to on these stuff because it just the way it is
