Vic Darchinyan (27-0, 21KOs) is confident that he will score another knockout victory when he defends the IBF flyweight championship against Victor Burgos (39-14-3) at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California on March 3rd.
"I am training hard for this fight with Victor Burgos," Darchinayn said. "I have very good sparring partners including jr middleweight Anton Solopov and I will be in great shape on March 3rd. I am sure Burgos will not go the distance with me.
I am very happy that Jorge Arce (46-3-1) said he will fight me - he is waiting for a good offer I am told. It will be a great fight when I meet Arce. I will KO Arce.
I am thinking also of moving up to super flyweight and bantamweight divisions to get good fights. I would like also to fight Rafael Marquez for IBF bantamweight title. My promoter Gary Shaw has helped give me good exposure on American television and now I have many fans in the USA because my fight always are knockout wins....when I fight Burgos -- it will be a KO win for me."
Darchinyan won the IBF flyweight title from Irene Pacheco in 2004 and has made five successful defenses. Australia now has two world champions - Lovemore Ndou holds the IBF jr welterweight title. "I am pleased my friend Lovemore Ndou won the world IBF title," added Darchinyan. "We have boxed about one thousand rounds in the gym."
