Hopkins / Wright is 50% DONE!

Mosley: I was faster than him!
    By Jason "J-Gon" Gonzalez

"I was faster than him," said Sugar Shane Mosley after winning the WBC interim welterweight title with a one-sided unanimous decision over Luis Collazo on Saturday night in Las Vegas. "I knew I could hurt him with quick jabs. It feels good to be a welterweight again. I felt light on my feet. I want to keep myself in shape and maybe fight again in June. I'm going to keep myself tuned up." As for the knockdown in round eleven, Mosley commented "It wasn't a hard shot. I didn't catch him flush. It had to do with him being off balance and he fell down. I knew he wasn't hurt, but the ref ruled it a knockdown." The always gracious Mosley also praised Collazo saying, "He's a warrior. He's a tough fighter and I know he'll be back." Collazo said, "I hurt my left hand in the third round and I wasn't able to fight the way I wanted to. I hurt it in training. I wish I could have been more effective. I did the best I could do. Shane came to fight. He did his job tonight." After the fight, Collazo headed to the hospital to get stitches on his left eyelid and to have his hand x-rayed.

In other news, promoter Bernard Hopkins revealed that he signed his part of the deal today to fight Winky Wright on July 21.

50% is good, but the other 50% (Winky's half) is going to be a soap opera, if the Taylor negotiations are any indication.

I wonder if Winky is using this negotiation as leverage with Taylor's people and HBO to try to get his parity for the April 21 date Taylor is holding. I read somewhere that HBO was trying to make the rematch happen (again!) on that date, since Sergio Mora wants too much money.

I'm not sure where he got the 50% from. Hopkins said it was a done deal and even announced it at the post presser.

I'm not talking about a 50/50 split.. I'm saying that one party has signed the contract, which means 50% done.

For Wright a PPV fight with Hopkins will generate a lot more money...

Then if he wins.. it will be a hot ticket for a rematch with Taylor (Both guys who beat b-hop)

However, I think B-Hop has a better chance and more tools to beat Wright than Taylor

i really hope winky dont sign the contract. i dont want to see this fight.
id rather see b-hop vs calzaghe, bell, abraham, jones, dawson or even lacy instead of winky. all his fights are boring.

What I'm saying is that Hopkins said it was a done deal. He never said Wright did not sign the contract or that he was the only one to sign, so I have no idea where the writer came up with the fight being 50% done.
