Just when one fight appears to be a done deal in boxing, another fight comes out of left field. It was only a week ago that a fight between WBA welterweight champ Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito was announced for June 9 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Arum has no leg to stand on. Margarito still has a contract with Top Rank, but he has to fight under the Goossen banner because Goossen won the purse bid. It's not like the Pacquiao situation where Manny signed promotional contracts with two promoters. This is a contract for one fight and Margarito will be stripped of his title if they don't follow the WBO rules. Arum is just pissed because he isn't getting a piece of the pie. This is all Arum's fault anyway since he didn't bid on the Margarito-Williams fight when he had the chance.

With all the bull**** Arum pulls, I'm still surprised anyone really believed he had a $8 million offer for Floyd to fight Margarito. This guy spits nothing but bull****...

How the hell is he dodging Cotto? Margarito just doesn't want to get striped from his belt, and he already said he wants Cotto in October after Williams.

Arum does seem to cause more problems than any other promoter these days. DK has faded into the background a bit (though he definitely messed up the heavyweight division by refusing to put together unification fights the last 3 years) and GBP is just getting started.

If Arum had locked up Pac before GBP had a chance to sign him, then there would be no controversy around Pac.

If Arum had agreed to let Margarito fight Cotto without demanding an extension, that fight would be set.

If Arum didn't publicly declare that DLH took a dive in the Hopkins fight and just swallowed the bitter pill of letting DLH go run HIS OWN COMPANY, then there would be no Top Rank/GBP cold war and we would get fights like Pac-Barrera II and Mosley-Margarito and maybe even Cotto-DLH or something.
