Shane Cameron Still Hunting For David Tua

New Zealand heavyweight champion Shane Cameron (17-0, 15KOs) is still in the hunt to fight his fellow countryman, David Tua. Cameron told the New Zealand Times that he can't believe that Tua turned down an offer $250,000 and agreed to fight journeyman Robert Hawkins in New York on 2/22. [details]

Cameron is overated, ive lived in the town in Manawatu that he is from, he is good on a domestic level but who has he fought, he is a big star in New Zealand and some of my family know him very well but im just not sold on the domestic hype, why else is he wanting to fight Tua, because he is finished, they have sparred before so he knows whats up, he stands to make a lot of money if they fight, it would be huge, probably in a rugby stadium in Auckland.

I think that you need to be rated, before you can be overrated. Cameron isnt, from what I'm aware.

After reading this article, it sounds as if Tua is ducking Cameron because he's afraid that if he loses, it may affect future earnings by preventing him from getting some big money fights. I think Tua may be trying to take the "Shannon Briggs" approach to earning a title shot by beating and looking good against lower-tiered opponents. The only difference is, Shannon was fighting much more frequently.

lol, i think even the tua "fans" have come to their senses about his current chances

news like this just reinforces the fact that he cant be taken seriously.... i mean if youre not willing to fight a nobody for 500 grand when you arent even rated sheesh......

a fight against this cameron guy, considering their nationalities, is the only fight tua could participate in that would actually sell out some seats at this moment

He's got a good fan base in NYC; just ask Hot Topic. But his refusal to take a relatively 'big money' fight with this guy Cameron has got to make you think that he's not too confident in his ability these days. However, I wish Tua the best and hope he steps up his level of competition in his next fight.
