    It's a shame...

If Mayweather had a likeable personality he would be almost as big as Sugar Ray Leonard right not in terms of popularity. He just acts like a jerk all the time. With his talent, looks, and charisma he would be boxing's next big mainstream crossover star but instead he has an unmarketable personality.

I do not think he has much charisma, I wish he just fought.

whatever, floyd shows off his talent, looks, and charisma where he should show it off, in the ring, the only place that truly matters. boxing is a sport and a competition, as well as a career and lifestyle for floyd. that is where it matters, no matter how you feel. you all sound like ****ing crybabys with your constant complaints and whining over floyd mayweather. the same goes for the media. they are claiming that floyd will never have a huge name, but yet they find a way to put his name in the paper and on tv. so, really, they are assisting him in having a huge name with all of their criticism and whining bitching over him. let the man do his thing.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Just look at his father, the guy acts like in his prime he was the best fighter ever, and now in his twilight years he acts as if he's the best trainer ever.

I admire Mayweather's ability, I know I talk **** about him from time to time but that doesn't mean I don't respect the guy. I just wish he had a little more class sometimes. He doesn't have to trash Oscar De La Hoya to "put asses in seats" as so many of his fans are saying. In order to justify Floyd's deliberate slander.

The fact of the matter is that the tickets already sold. Even the PPV audience is set to be huge because of the hype already surrounding this fight for the past few months. He doesn't have to do anything more to ensure that the fight will be huge, at this point it cannot get any bigger than it is, it's a mega-fight. One that only comes along every 15-20 years.

The trash talking is just plain disrespectful. De La Hoya has accomplished many great things in his career and is easily a shoe in for the hall-of-fame, ontop of that he is greatly loved and admired by the public. And I think that's what hurts Mayweather the most, the fact that no matter what he does in that ring, he will never be held so highly in the public eye.

Don't you think it is an incredible waste for him to be acting like a jerk, whereas if he conducted himself with class, he'd be making 10 million a fight and would be not that far behind De La Hoya interms of ppv buys?

I know that he man is a terrific fighter, I'm just saying that it is a shame that he doesn't conduct himself with class because if he did, he would be a huge mainstream sports superstar by now, probably generating near 1 000 000 ppv buys every time out.

Ray Leonard was able to do this, and Floyd is around the same weight classes, and has probably has as much in ring ability.

            It is a shame.

He has a lot of charisma. He is a very loud, outspoken guy who seems to be very comfortable on camera. He definately understands showmanship, just look at him talking to the broadcasters during his fights. The charisma is there, it just only comes out when he is trash talking and being disrespectful.

i understand what you're trying to explain but floyd's his own man. he's not de la hoya or srl. he has to be true to himself. he's an ******* to many people, and he's far from perfect but his outside antics isn't what appeals to me about him, it's what he does in the ring that matters. actually, he tells great storires in his fights whether they are one sided or harder battles. that's what turns me to floyd mayweather. his trash talking is no worst than james toney or ali's who called people ugly. i mean at the end of the day who cares how trash he talks, that's what not going to be remembered, it's his performance in the ring that will be remembered and it should be that way with all fighters. mayorga talked a lot of trash and insulted de la hoya. where's mayorga now? who knows? somewhere is jail or out on bail, but we don't care about what he said to oscar, we care about how he fought oscar, and oscar whooped his ass. floyd talks trash, who gives a ****, you talk trash, i talk trash, so what, the president talks trash. none of that matters until the talking turns into the walking, and floyd has walked the walk 37 times an dwon the fight everytime whether controversial or not. he's performed amazingly under intense pressure that he put on himself with his trash talking and that's what really matters. he's performed beautifully throughout most of his career and that's what matters. fighters talk trash no matter how bad it seems, at the end of the day, they tell a story in their fights and that's what matters. floyd is just another example of a storyteller.
