His defence is terrible, he relys alot on reflexes, but someone like Calzaghe would be too quick and slick for him. He takes alot of punches on the chin with little effect, and people seem to see that as him having a decent chin, but until he fights someone with anywhere near to a decent punch it's pretty hard to make that conclusion. Also, he appears to have decent knockout power, but that's only against limited opposition.

There is no better than seeing someone really arrogant get humbled - especially if that person is actually pretty good. Just look at the Judah chickendance. It was a kodak moment in boxing. Not so much for the dance itself but for the rightful nemesis felt by most people in that moment

The only fighters I can see giving him trouble are decent boxers with good footwork, fighters like Lacy and Kessler would have trouble with him because he's just as strong, if not stronger than both of them.

His power is phenominal and he's an above average boxer who can fight well off the back foot.

His low-slung left is to lure an opponent in and crank in counters, and he's not as easy to hit as people make out - he rolls with the right hand. He lets punches off so effortlessly and has good poise, and he's got some unusual shots from awkward angles - shots from the waist, uppercuts from out of range and so on. He can hit. He says he's never even been hurt in the ring in his life, let alone down. And I've never seen him tired.

He won the gold medal and 'best boxer' at the Multi Nations in Copenhagen in '01 as captain of the England squad. He has pedigree.

His boxing idols include Naseem Hamed and Roy Jones.

He's been good friends with snooker maestro Ronnie O'Sullivan for quite a few years, and claims that he and O'Sullivan are the two most naturally talented British sportsmen. Ronnie hailed Carl as "the British Tommy Hearns" in '03.

He was supposed to be fighting Jeff Lacy once at the England-vs-USA match, but Lacy backed out with injury.
