You, Me, and that Bigtyme guy know Oscar was robbed against Shane in the second fight. Everyone saw it....you can rewatch that fight over and over and you'll still score it for Oscar. What about Trinidad? So he coasted in the 12th does that mean he lost the fight? How ******ed would someone actually have to be to score that fight simply on the 12th round.

Now....if you think he legitimately lost those fights..you're an idiot.
Oscar has my respect because he is a good fighter and has fought all the best of his generation, but the fact of the matter is he always came up a bit short. I have him winning the Tito and second Shane fight, and losing the Whitaker and Quartey fights. His biggest win was over Fernando Vargas, who was a superstar with a lot of potential that was ruined by going too young against Tito and getting two low blows that ****ed up the fight for him, and by getting destroyed in the 12th. So that means Oscar is 3-4 against superstar fighters of his generation. Not bad when you consider his opposition, but very far from the legend status that some people claim for him.

Man, if the joust he had with Brian Kenny on ESPN was a real fight, Mayweather would have been knocked spark out. He just doesn't know how to be a marquee star, to get people to identify with him. He comes across as a person that is not genuine that thinks he is better than everyone else. He talks about his money and ***els, when De La Hoya has more than anyone in the game, and when did you ever hear Oscar talking about how much money he has? Mayweather trashed Hatton by saying that Hatton sold 6000 tickets, and his fights sell out in 3 hours. That's rather selective. The ONLY Mayweather fight that had its tickets sold out in 3 hours was, surprise surprise, this one involving De La Hoya.

In short, Floyd is a great boxer, but he is full of it.
      I completely agree.

He left himself open and Judah took advantage of it, it was mayweather's fault. He may not have been hurt but it was a good shot.

Oscar is the biggest non-heavyweight attraction in boxing and he did it with class and dignity...Mayweather should try that sometime, but I doubt he could. If you are going to try and talk **** to promote a fight at least be good at it, he's just rambleling on nonsensically. He's a great fighter but a douchbag.

It isn't a senseless thread because it outlines how full of it the supposed pound-for-pound star of boxing is and why he has failed to cross over into the mainstream like De La Hoya has. When they go to the SuperBowl tomorrow, you can bet there will be but a handful of people that will actually know Floyd and what he is about. Compared to De La Hoya he is anonymous in the mainstream. That's because he doesn't know how to handle himself in the media and the quote given at the beginning of this thread is just another example of that.

And for the record, Mayweather has beaten two top fighters in their prime. He beat Corrales which was his best performance, and he beat Castillo in the second fight because he had the speed to get away with it.

De La Hoya has beaten prime versions of Rafael Ruelas, Jesse James Leija, Genaro Hernandez, John John Molina, Ike Quartey and Fernando Vargas.

And in keeping with the family theme, he beat the **** out of Jeff Mayweather in his fifth fight

If your going to count John John Molina and Jesse James Leija, and Rafeal Ruelas, then im going to include Zab Judah, Jesus Chavez and Carlos Hernandez all in their prime, as well as Genaro Hernandez. You rate ONLY castillo and corralles when you rate the guys i mentioned above. Mayweather hasnt crossed over into mainstream success and likely never will, but you cant let the ****** things he says, cloud his elite mastery of the sport.
