calzaghe vs winky ( now that winky is rumored to have moved up to 170 to fight hopkins )
    and then calzaghe vs kessler.
That would be sound, but I think that if Calzaghe beat Taylor he'd probably have another gimme again. Shame because if he wants to achieve his potential he needs exactly the fights you just mentioned.

sad but true. if he wants the legacy and respect he craves then he must go after all the big fights, with no gimmies in the way, as you never know when it will all catch up with him.......especially at the grand old age of 34.

Yup. I dont think I'm the only one that worries that Joe stayed in his WBO comfort zone a little too long

He's got 18-24 months left. Tops. He's going to try and make as much money as he can during that time. The Manfredo fight suits a) HBO bigging up the Taylor fight and b) letting have an easy fight in the biggest arena near his hometown as a goodbye party. I can only see him either fighting a big name or retiring after the Taylor fight.

If Calzaghe beats Manfredo and then Taylor, he would HAVE to fight the Winky-Hopkins winner to solidify his career as an all-time great. Win or lose it would be very good for his legacy.

Let's face it, he has a past-prime Eubank and an over-hyped Lacy on his resume and little else. Adding a reality star and an underwhelming middleweight champ to that doesn't do much at all. Good wins, yes....defining wins, probably not (unless the Taylor fight is a barnburner).

So what does it do for Hopkins' legacy by losing to the underwhelming Taylor. Twice.

I would have to stick up for Jermaine here. Underwhelming? He beat Hopkins twice. If you don't agree with the first decision there can be no doubt in the second. And I really dont know where all the bull**** about the draw with Winky is - in my opinion Taylor deserved the win if anything. But it was a close fight. So if he's underwhelming then Hopkins is truly overhyped and so is Winky. So who should Calzaghe fight instead?

Although having said that, I dont believe he will fight Taylor.
