The WBC has stripped Omar Nino of the organization's jr flyweight title and approved a fight between former champ Brian Viloria and Edgar Sosa for the vacant belt. Nino was stripped for testing postive for amphetamine after retaining his title with a draw against Viloria in November.

WBO bantamweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez will put his belt on the line on March 30 against former flyweight world titlist Irene Pacheco at the Desert Diamond Resort in Tucson, Arizona.

Former WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison was released on bail Thursday after pleading innocent to drug charges in a Glasgow courtroom. Harrison then flew to Spain to face criminal charges there. He is due back in a Glasgow courtroom on Monday to deal with still further legal problems.
