Frank Warren has played down rumours of a possible July showdown between Joe Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins - and says the Welshman must focus on his April 7 clash with Peter Manfredo Jnr first. [details]

In my best estimation, Manfredo beating Calzaghe would be Tyson/Douglas again. I don't know if it's that monumental of an upset but ****ing close.

There's no way Calzaghe should lose to Manfredo. He's tailor made.

Very wise for Waren to focus Joe and reiterate how much "looking good" means in this fight.

This is the biggest fight of Joe's career!

My dream fight may just happen Hopkins vs. Calzaghe-it sounds like thats what HBO wants.

BTW-I dont believe Manfredo is the Douglas type underdog that you claim Run, for some reason this fight has me a touch uneasy, I cant put my finger on it. (could be simply that Bhop may be next in line)

There's no way that if an upset were to occur..it would have the overall impact of the Tyson/Douglas affair because that would be ridiculous. Calzaghe is nowhere near the Star Tyson was.....but in a pure boxing sense I think Calzaghe should be made the what? 50-1 favorite ala Tyson fighting Douglas?

Calzaghe is well respected in the sport, and losing to Manfredo would have a huge impact in boxing circles maybe not so much in Media.

In theory Manfredo should pose no problems for Calzaghe in a fight that has been made to give Calzaghe more exposure in the states. Although i wouldn't say the odds are stacked that high against Manfredo, it should be a straightforward win for Calzaghe, but it will be a win that i'm not sure he'll gain much credit for, as there will be those who will say that Manfredo was no where near ready for him etc etc.
Hopkins, Taylor, Kessler etc have been talked about as future opponents for Calzaghe, and it is clear that he needs to step it up.

This is bull****. April is ages away. How can we wait that long? The months need to be re-arranged.

              January
              February
              April
              March
              May
              etc

Why even worry about it? A snowball has a better chance in hell than Manfredo does against Calzaghe
