    Nicky Cook back in April

Nicky Cook is poised to launch his 2007 assault on world title with a 10-round outing at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, on April 7.

The 27-year-old Dagenham fighter was left devastated at the end of 2006 when a proposed WBO featherweight title challenge against Scott Harrison was called off on just a few days notice.

Cook had been training intensely for the fight in Tenerife and his native Essex, all to no avail.

Promoter Frank Warren said he would get Cook a title shot within 12 months - and the box-puncher keeps busy on the big South Wales bill.

No opponent has yet been announced for the ****ney, but he will be looking to maintain his high rating with both the WBA (7) and the WBO (6).

Cook out-boxed Harry Ramogoadi on the ExCeL Arena card in London on December 9, walking away with a wide decision over eight low key rounds.

His insipid display was understandable given the fall-out from the Harrison fight, but after reflecting over Christmas he is now raring to go again.

Undefeated in 27 outings with 15 KOs, Cook is a former British, Commonwealth and European champion, and is rated at four in the world by independent boxrec.

Joe Calzaghe headlines the Millennium Stadium bill, defending his WBO super-middleweight title against Peter Manfredo Jnr.

COOK DON'T DO IT!!! YOU'RE TOO GOOD A FIGHTER TO BE WITH WARREN! YOU'LL NEVER GET A WORLD TITLE SHOT. GO JOIN HENNESSEY OR FIGHT ACADEMY AND YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY GET SOMEWHERE!!

Usually I'd agree, but he got him a shot against Harrison, so all is well with Warren being Cooks manager/promoter.

These promoters would probably get them a world title shot earlier, but Nicky Cook would make less money with them as Frank Warren made Ricky Hatton £6 million ($11.8 million) in 4 years just by defending his dog **** WBU belt.

However I quite like Hennessey promotions, the route his fighters take: British, Commonwealth, European and then World titles like WBC, WBA and IBF.

Frank Warrens route is WBU, then WBO.

As uppercut said, he's been stripped and Juan Manuel Marquez is now WBO champion.

I actually got cut off, I'm at work and had to post it quicker than I wanted. The reason this is bull**** is because he's gonna be fighting another nobody, this time over 10 rounds. He needs to be in exciting fights against good level opposition. This, clearly, won't be that.

And yeah, he got Cook a shot at Harrison but that's an easy one as Harrison was promoted by Warren. Warren actually wanted Harrison to win that one, as prior to that Cook wasn't promoted by Frank. I'm just gutted to see one of my favourite fighters join Frank Warren and inevitably go down the bull**** route he takes fighters so that he spends his prime years fighting nobodies, just like Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.
