[QUOTE=uppercut_84;2103320]Mayweather Sr said about Roach that, "He is about as good a trainer as he was a fighter," Floyd Sr. said "You can add that up right there. How good he was as a fighter is how good he is as a trainer. Calculate it and see what you come up with.".
Mayweather Sr has a record of 29 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw.
How can Mayweather diss Roach for his record, when his record isn't greater either?[/QUOTE
Damn i guess ricardo Mayorga was right Mayweather Sr. Was a coward who never fought anybody. Even Floyd said " Yeah he taught me everything besides how to lose 6 times." lol. Out of the two no wonder floyd sides with rodger who had a decent career.
I like Oscar but he is full of ****. If he was worried about the "family drama" he wouldn't have made an offer at all. If Sr. had accepted the half a mil he would be the trainer still. It was too high of a price and thats it.
I'm not saying he was worried about the family drama. I am saying the drama and distraction that Jr and Sr would have brought to this fight. This would have turned into a circus and would have been more about the mayweathers disfunctional ass family than about the fight. he would have been more of a distraction and i don't think Oscar beleived he would have put everything into training him.
What else is new, you believe everything Oscar says...
What else is new your a Mayweather nuthugger wether it be Sr. or Jr. It's not hard to see that Mayweather Sr. would have been more of a distraction than a help. Oscar would have had to deal with all the drama of both Mayweathers and it would have been nothing but a distraction. With Roach he can focus solely on the fight and training. get over it nuthugger!!!!
As much as I hate Oscar as a fighter, I respect him as a great fighter too. We have our personal favorites, mine was Vargas.
But I do believe Oscar is probably the most intelligent fighter since Sugar Ray Leonard retired (the second time ). He also is cognizant of trainer's talents. If he felt Roach was more a cheeleader than a trianer in the gym and in the corner, he would never have picked him.
I do have to say that Floyd is right about one thing: James Toney trains himself. He only spars but never does any training routines.
This guy is like a ****ing child. He's unbelievable, and in my opinion, a truly awful trainer. Oscar should have changed years ago, then maybe he'd have beaten Hopkins and Mosley. I wouldnt want Mayweather Sr as trainer for Cello Renda let alone Oscar De La Hoya
