According to Dan Rafael on Friday Night Fights, it was already decided that Freddie Roach was picked to train him.

"It's obvious the man is super tight," Mayweather Sr. said of De La Hoya. "What comes first in this particular situation, greed or the fight? But he can do what he wants. I make money. Money don't make me. I'm going on with my life.

"Oscar's fired every trainer he's had. He's had all the so-called greats and he's fired every one of them, but has he fired me? No. And that should tell you something."

          Sr is such an idiot..

The trainer does not really matter at this point in Oscar's career. I have never really seen Oscar adapt and make a better decision in a fight because of himself, or his trainer. Just like Hopkins in his later career, trainers are there for moral support, for the most part, at the end of most guys career (which it is coming down to in this case with Oscar).

De La Hoya still without a trainer for Mayweather bout

De La Hoya still without a trainer for Mayweather bout

LAS VEGAS -- Oscar De La Hoya still hasn't hired a trainer for his May 5 super welterweight bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

De La Hoya is at financial odds with Floyd Mayweather Sr., who has trained him since 2001, and has rejected Mayweather Sr.'s request for a $2 million purse.

Las Vegan Wayne McCullough, a disciple of the late legendary trainer Eddie Futch, has thrown his hat into the ring.

McCullough, a former bantamweight champion, is the trainer for super middleweight prospect Librado Andrade, who is being promoted by De La Hoya's company, Golden Boy Promotions, and said he would gladly handle De La Hoya.

"Oscar just needs someone who will keep his eyes open and see things and just remind him of things," McCullough said.

Is that confirmed? I doubt it!

The dream "z" Gorrez is fighting and Boom Boom Bautista is fighting too and they are being trained by Roach. Pacquiao is fighting next and the fight sched is just a month apart from De La Hoya's sched. Roach said he can't sit down and train DLH exclusively at this point.
