Honestly.
Putting on an event in denmark takes some fighters. Since we have a population of about 5 mill. people, it's not much bigger than a local big-city event. This altso means there is a lot of average fighters who gets a record by beating nobodies and old burned out fighters.
This altso makes it difficult for the few good danish fighters to get good fights. Kessler had a long time when nobody would fight him, because they wouldnt get any fame (or big money), so why fight such a strong guy.
It's a long journey to climb the rankings, but thats the way you get a shot at it, if you are from denmark.
IMO Brian Nielsen was such a freakshow, it was quite funny. The fat man was pretty much an even more ugly version of "Butter bean".
Damgaard had many good fights, but couldn't reach world class, EU champ was his limit.
I guess it's the same with Frank Warren's fighters and the WBU. I think some of this Danish match making is a bit like Warren's when he started out: Padding fighters' records for a very long time and then making them step up after they've gone past their best.

Brian fought for the IBC title.. then he padded his record, then defended the title, then padded it some more.
Come on the only reason Nielsens record is more padded than Audleys is that Nielsen fought on a very regular basis. In less than 10 years as a pro he fought 66 times!

Exactly. And if you look at American fighters, they get "built up" as well. The difference is, if you're with a big American promoter, getting a big fight once you're ready to step up is infinitely easier than if you're a Danish unknown who's been fighting the same nobodies as the Americans do.
P.S. The only heavyweight I can think of who is a bigger joke than Brian Nielsen was, is Audley.
