I apologize in advance for my language but ****ING Alphabet belts are ruining the ****ing sport. Best case scenario is Hatton gets a bye until he fights Castillo, then we have to trudge through either Castillo or Hatton fighting one of these guys instead of unifying and taking on the other belts champs or even a rematch (depending on how exciting the first is).

Worst case scenario Ricky gets stripped and fights Castillo in non-title match, thats complete bollocks and **** all to all the belts, especially the buggers who allowed Zab to keep a belt after his lost to Baldomir.

Boxing is killing itself and I'm happy MMA is kicking its ass in PPV and kicks its ass in Cable also, I think the only way for boxing to heal itself is for it to have some competition and hit some hard times, then they might actually do whats right for the sport.

People need to start ignoring alphabet titles and going after Ring belts only. Whilst these aren't perfect they are SO much better than any alphabet organisation. Look at Barrera a few years back - he was the featherweight champ with no official belt, and then Pacman after that. Look at Tarver and Johnson, who both gave up their belts to fight each other and prove who was the best, look at Tarver/Hopkins. Hopkins is the undisputed light heavyweight champ even though he has no belt. Look at Ricky Hatton, still undisputed light welter champ despite the fact he only has one belt.

If I were him, I would ditch the ****ing IBF right now. Get rid of it. He can still carry the Ring belt to the ring, and what is so wrong as advertising a fight as being for that belt? This is utter, utter bull****, and it is ruining the sport. The sad truth is, though, that promoters won't ditch alphabet belts. Is DLH the true light middleweight champion? No. But they feel they need the WBC belt to help sell the Floyd fight. Which is bull**** cos that would sell on its own, it doesnt need any help!! But in their mind it makes the fight more worthwile, and in the minds of the general public who don't understand boxing.

But people don't understand it because it's ****ing complicated. The amount of times I've had to tell friends which belts are 'meaningful' and which aren't, and every single one of them has got confused. Even 'The Simpsons' takes the piss out of the situation. If something's not done soon, boxing will become even more marginalised than it already is...

jesus its like a never ending cycle, hatton vacates 140 belt, moves to 147,vacates 147 belt, moves back to 140 to get his old belt

he should have been fighting rabbah but he has to fight urango, now in all likelyhood he will be fighting rabbah afterall

            Belts are becoming meaningless.

If Hatton can fit this in at the end of the year after Castillo it wouldn't be too bad. As long as it isn't Rabah who wins. At least N'Dou brings a bit of excitement to the ring.

                ******ity.

Best case scenario for Hatton is that he's allowed to fight Castillo as that one is already signed, takes a relatively quick fight against the winner of the N'Dou/Rabbah fight and uses that as a good warm up to a Cotto or PBF fight.

If he isnt allowed the fight Castillo, I'd advise him to just drop the belt. He's been a champion for a lot of his career, he needs the big fights now, not the belts, not the wins.

the belt was an added incentive, its not the main thing.

Pacman and Morales fought with no belt on the line.

Tarver and Hopkins fought with no major title on the line.

Hatton and Castillo can fight with no title on the line.
