    Haye at Heavyweight?

I'm just reading that David "The Gay" Haye (c. Run/W, 2005) is planning on debuting at heavyweight while he waits to fight the winner of Bell-Mormeck.

Haye - who once said in an interview "never train in front of a mirror otherwise you'll want to spend all day admiring yourself" - is a curious choice for a heavy. Personally I'm not sure how the chin will hold up... there's every chance that it might be vulnerable due to all the trouble he's had making weight, but I doubt it. He's also had hand trouble.

Though the guy has serious pop at Cruiser, I don't know how that will transfer up. He could probably hit harder than a lot of heavies (Byrd, Sprott, Toney, maybe Holyfield at this stage, possibly Skelton...) but will it be enough to make an impression?

One thing that's really apparent is the speed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but offhand I can't think of a single other boxer (active) that could hit faster than Haye in the heavyweight division.

    Thoughts........?

I think that he is a very interesting prospect at Heavy. Lots of work to do, but he has seemed to gradually been putting weight on and has a good enough physique to carry his power over with him. He's got plenty of talent and potential though.

IT was quick, but not sure how quick, the angle is quite a bad one to really see the punch. Although he defo got some pop, but heavies got a much better pop then cruisers and Haye is quite a small guy himself. I think he will have trouble getting to the big guys of the devision, Also, how is his physical stength, he looks admirably proportional and could get a job in the club where I work as a dancer, but how really strong he is?

Also, his jab seems to be nonexistant, with him trying to be all flashy and leading with hooks and rights and the way he is hanging his left arm low can spell doom against guys with good 1-2

Bad idea jumpin to Heavy then droppin back down! Im not keen as a David Haye fan for him to be at Heavy AT ALL! But its obvious he has to go up, he beats a lot of decent fighters, Id pick him over Skelton and Danny but id have to see him at the weight 1st to be sure

The Gaye hits really hard, but his chin is suspect. I don't know what a big guy would do to him, but I'm sure if he was over 200 he could hurt people.

How’s his Stamina these days. If that’s sorted out, he’ll be a force.

I wasn't putting that one clip up as a total example btw, it was just a "hey, have a ****ing look at this while you're here" kind of clip. I'm assuming those that reply have seen more than that clip of Haye.
