Mayweather needs Gatti alot more than Gatti needs Mayweather. So I guess Gatti is just content to go against old has beens like Leija the rest of his carrer. So why does Gatti say he has this new "boxing style" when he just wants to take on guys like this?

For Mayweathers next fight I've been hearing Ricky Hatton alot, does anybody know if that will happen. If it does I will be interested to see Hatton going from knocking out bums to mabey going against the pound for pound best.

plain and simple, Gatti is fighting leija because of what Jesse did to that overhyped prospect Francisco Bojado. thats the politics of boxing.

panchito didint have mayweather sr training him like he normally does and had to opt with buddy mcgirt, and looked like a totally different fighter in that fight.

Gatti and Mayweather ducking each other? No, of course not. Both guys have been wanting to fight ever since Mayweather moved to 140. Its the politics of building up fights and lining it up for a title. They should fight, it would be a good one, but the "Powers That Be" have to work it to get the most money out of it.

This thread is a fine example of a pre-fight build-up, actually. The fight hasn't even been announced yet and people are taking sides. This fight will go down. Both camps have been going on and on about it....it will happen.

I love gatti for all the heart he is!! But Skills can overcome heart.. and mayweather has that.. point is--let's first hope gatti could pass leija, so the fight could go down. Leija is dangerous now becoz his career is nearing the twilight zone. He knows there's no turning back now. Rest assured he'll give it his best coz that's all he has left and that makes him really dangerous. I'm not saying that it's gonna be an upset, but I followed gatti's career coz he's one of my favorite fighters, and we all know that gatti has been up and down with his carreer... and right now he's in his up, but for how long, I dont know.
                  -Gatti KO leija.

Mayweather Sr. is absolute **** as a trainer. He had a VERY gifted son, took him where he was going to go anyway, and thinks he's the ****. He speaks like he has **** in his mouth and he thinks he can teach people?
I'm not a huge fan of De La Hoya, but he was at least good before Floyd Sr got his hands on him. What's his record since?

My fave Floyd Sr moment was before the first Mosley/DLH fight when they were having a discussion with him and Shane's dad, and Floyd Sr says, "It ain't gawn be da same ole Oscar. He mo fluidicious now!"
He makes up more words than George W. Shrub and Don Kng combined.

I can't hear that man speak without thinking about Steppin Fechit.

That's like saying that Ricky Hatton isn't ducking anyone with a pulse because FW doesn't make the fights. If a fighter wants a fight all he has to do is ask. There is no reason why the S. Mitchell fight couldn't have been made. Now he's the mandatory for Cotto's strap but he is waiting on the sidelines just in case SM or KT decide not to follow through on their words and move to 147. Whatever!

Also, PBF IS in legal trouble and currently has no manager nor promoter. Please read up on your boxing issues before talking out of your ass. Here is the link to Mayweather's legal troubles: Linky! Even though it says he's already been sentenced, he is currently on probation. This article doesn't say it but I read it on **********.com when the story broke. I tried searching their archives but to no avail. Sure I am of reading it, tho.

I'm having trouble finding where **********.com said that Mayweather was close to signing with a new promoter/manager but I can't find it, either. Here is an article from Sept. 29th where they talk a little about him: Linky!

Remember, PBF elected not to fight Harris in hopes of getting the WBC to deny Gatti's request for an optional fight before his mandatory. The WBC has since granted Gatti his wish and PBF was left out in the cold. This is Gatti's last fight on HBO (by contract) so, if he wishes, he can sign with Showtime and then PBF is screwed because he has one more HBO fight left on his contract. That would allow Gatti to duck Floyd for one more fight, maybe against Ricky Hatton, where he would make buku bucks and still have a better chance at winning than if he fights Mayweather.
