Hadnt he signed with DK he could have easily fought Vitali after he fought Maskaev, but too bad.

Peter never signed with King, he's a Duva fighter. DK recently bought a majority stake in Duva's promotion company so that's the link.

Ahhh......Well can anyone put up more detail on this?

Or DK is still defacto controlling Peter?

I don't know all the inside details but there's been sightings of "an elderly black man with funny hair waving flags" during Peter's press conferences and at his fights.

Anyone know of other cases of emeritus champions getting a title shot ahead of the mandatory? If the WBC gave Vitali this status and part of it comes with a title shot on return than yeah that sucks for Peter but welcome to boxing. Stop cryin, fight someone other than Toney and work on what he's learned from his last two fights. Im sure he would be the next in line and then he'll be up for a huge payday in comparison, he'll probably get his ass kicked but make a lot of money.

You're a moron. He never signed with Don King. He signed with the Duvas, and then King bought into the Duvas' Main Events promotion.
